NEWS FROM THE NATUROPATH
For years my Mom would complain of arthritis in her knees. Her knees looked like swollen melons. This was a constant source of inflammation in her body. When she went to her family doctor he told her that her condition was normal and to NOT drink any water because it would encourage painful swelling in her legs.
Recently my Mom was diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes. My late grandmother had diabetes and with it many complications including the loss of her left leg and eventually heart failure. My Mom didn’t want any part of being a Diabetic.
Armed with a reasonable amount of information, my Mom quickly pulled herself together and started eating better, exercising and taking supplements.
As of today, she has lost 30 pounds in 3 months. There is no longer swelling in her legs and as a result she no longer has pain in her knees. Her cholesterol is down by 140 points! And her blood pressure is well within a normal, healthy range.
Would you like to know how she did this? Mostly through diet. Yes, she changed her health by changing her diet. Her doctor is very proud of her.
In this newsletter I would like to introduce a variety of good things that you can do to improve your health, maybe change some numbers and have your doctor saying “Whatever your doing, keep it up!”
FABULOUS FOODS FOR A FABULOUS YOU!
- Organic high-lignan flaxseed oil is essential for its high-omega 3 fat-fighting and insulin-regulating potential.
- Cranberry Water* eliminates water retention, cleanses accumulated wastes from the lymphatic system, and also helps to clean up cellulite.
- Organic eggs; the omega 3- enriched eggs are not only delicious but also are brimming with antioxidants for the eyes and brain, cholesterol-protective phosphatidylcholine, and sulfur to support your liver.
- Ezekiel 4:9 bread is based on the Biblical verse Ezekiel 4:9 which says “Take also unto thee wheat and barley and beans and lentils and millet and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make bread of it.” Organic grains and legumes are in the original sprouting process.
Herbs and spices that are metabolism boosters include Cayenne, dried mustard, cinnamon, ginger, dill, garlic, anise, fennel cloves, bay leaves, coriander, parsley, cilantro, apple cider vinegar, and cumin.
Organic or grass-fed meat whenever possible. Too many hormones and chemicals are in mass produced meat poultry and fish. Check out www.Eatwild.com to locate locally grown and organically raised meat in your area.
Limit your intake of nightshade vegetables, they are known to increase joint pain, these include: tomatoes, eggplant, bell peppers and potatoes.
Changing my Mom’s diet played a tremendous role in her overall health. Adding good quality supplements and regular exercise, she has topped the charts in good health and feels fabulous!
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY SUPPLEMENTS
- Methylsulfonylmethane, also known as MSM is a naturally occurring organic sulfur compound found in plant and animal tissues that is essential for optimum health. It is a derivative for dimethysulfoxide (DMSO), which has remarkable therapeutic properties, especially for healing injuries.
- MSM helps to relieve pain and inflammation; reduce allergy problems; and promote gastrointestinal health. It can also help to detoxify the body on a cellular level; MSM helps to nourish the hair, skin, and nails.
- Vitamin C is an antioxidant that is required for at least 300 metabolic functions in the body including tissue growth and repair. It also aids in the production of anti-stress hormones.
- Vitamin C works synergistically with Vitamin E. Vitamin E scavenges for dangerous free radicals in cell membranes, while vitamin C attacks free radicals in biologic fluids. These vitamins reinforce and extend each other’s antioxidant activity.
- Grapeseed Extract is one of my favorite anti-oxidants. Purplish blue in color and so very rich in PCOs or proanthocyanidins. PCO extracts are exceedingly effective at inhibiting inflammation.
- Blueberries are loaded with PCOs; if you decide to grind up blueberries in the palms of your hands, be prepared for the PCO, in this case blue, to be attracted to the collagen in your skin.
- Green Tea and Green Tea Extract offer numerous systemic health benefits. One study demonstrated that it can reduce dental decay by inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans.
Green tea is rich in powerful antioxidants; inhibits the formation of cancerous tumors; can heal sun-damaged skin; has strong anticancer properties.
If you are on blood thinners, green tea can enhance their effects, so consult with your physician before drinking green tea.
